The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (VAKS) has altered the preventive measure for a current member of parliament suspected of co-organizing a scheme to embezzle 140 million UAH from "Ukrzaliznytsia." The suspect has been remanded in custody for up to 60 days, as he failed to provide a 100 million UAH bail.

The court's decision was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP).

The name of the suspected MP has not been officially disclosed; however, as written by UNN, it concerns Viktor Bondar.

VAKS partially granted the request of the NABU detectives, which was approved by the acting Attorney General.

“Considering that the suspect did not pay the 100 million UAH bail set by the court, the prosecution requested the court to change the preventive measure from bail to custody with the possibility of posting bail,” the statement reads.

In accordance with the decision, the suspect was taken into custody in the courtroom. The bail amount remains unchanged at 100 million UAH.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced suspicions against the member of parliament for developing a scheme in which "Ukrzaliznytsia" was supplied with cable and wire products at inflated prices.
