The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Friday, February 21, made the decision to allocate 7.9 billion UAH for the purchase of drones.
This was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, these funds will be redirected to the State Special Communications and Information Protection Service, which will carry out the necessary purchases.
Shmyhal mentioned that in January of this year, drone production increased tenfold compared to January 2024. According to his data, the domestic production of artillery has tripled over the years 2023 and 2024, armored personnel carriers increased fivefold, anti-tank weapons doubled, and ammunition increased by 2.5 times.
“At the same time, we currently produce about one-third of the weapons we need. The goal that the government sets for itself is to increase domestic weapons production to at least half of the current demand. To achieve this aim, we have allocated a record amount this year for the modernization of our defense industry and the procurement of weapons,” added the head of government.
