Санду уточнила, при каких условиях Молдова готова предоставить финансовую помощь Приднестровью.

Moldova is prepared to offer emergency assistance to the unrecognized Transnistria to help overcome the energy crisis. In the long term, there is a possibility of financial support involving international partners.

This was stated by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, as reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing her interview with Newsmaker.

According to Sandu, Moldova is ready to provide Transnistria with assistance to address the consequences of the energy crisis.

"We reiterate our offer, including the aid we can provide - generators, medical assistance, medicines - everything that is necessary for the people during this period," she said.

Sandu also mentioned that financial aid could be possible if Russian "peacekeepers" are withdrawn from the region.

"But this will only be feasible after the withdrawal of the Russian army and replacing the 'peacekeeping' mission with a civilian mission under the auspices of the UN or the EU. These are the main conditions under which we can come in and provide substantial assistance... This support should come from our development partners, as we are still in a difficult financial situation," she emphasized.

The Energy Crisis in Transnistria

It is important to note that Ukraine completely halted the transit of Russian gas to Moldova and EU countries starting January 1. At that time, Transnistria was left without heating and hot water.

Moldova warned that the energy system of Transnistria could fail due to a severe electricity shortage. Meanwhile, Moldova offered the authorities of the unrecognized "republic" to purchase gas from Europe at their own expense, but they refused.

For more details on what awaits Transnistria after the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, read in the RBK-Ukraine article.
