США и Украина обсуждают «улучшенный» проект соглашения о полезных ископаемых, сообщает Axios.

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump provided Ukraine with an “enhanced” draft agreement regarding minerals after Zelensky declined to sign the previous version of the document.

Axios reports this, citing sources.

According to the publication, several of Zelensky's aides encouraged him to sign the updated proposal to avoid further conflict with Trump and allow the U.S. president to justify continued support for Ukraine from the United States.

Both American and Ukrainian sources indicated that this agreement is more likely to be realized. “The latest draft included significant improvements and aligns with Ukrainian legislation,” said a source.

On February 20, U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated during a briefing at the White House that Trump was “very disappointed” with Zelensky for not signing the agreement on rare earth metals. He urged the Ukrainian president to “soften” his criticism of the U.S. and sign the agreement.

Earlier that same day, Zelensky met with U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg. The president stated that Ukraine is ready for an agreement with Trump regarding investments and security.
