В Киеве началось создание распределенной генерации, сообщил Кличко.

The first gas engine cogeneration unit with a capacity of 1.5 MW has commenced operations in Kyiv.

This was reported by the city mayor Vitali Klitschko.

It is noted that this equipment was installed with the assistance of USAID and the Energy Security Project at one of the city’s critical infrastructure enterprises.

The mayor reminded that in May, the Kyiv City Council approved the Concept of “Energy Recovery: The Path to Distributed Cogeneration.” This initiative has received support from numerous international partners.

According to him, the concept aims to develop local sources of combined heat and power generation in the capital and to enhance the use of alternative fuel sources.

“Kyiv has ordered an additional 15 cogeneration units, which are expected to be delivered in batches over the year. The goal is to achieve an additional total capacity of approximately 170 MW within the year,” emphasized Klitschko.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the first gas cogeneration unit in Ukraine began operations in Irpin. This unit will serve as a backup source for the “Teploenerhopostach” boiler house, which heats 70% of Irpin.
