The Slovak Parliament lacked a quorum to discuss Fico's resignation.

The National Council will make another attempt on February 4th.
В парламенте Словакии не оказалось кворума для обсуждения отставки Фицо.

In Slovakia, a third attempt to convene a parliamentary session to discuss a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Robert Fico's government has failed within two days.

According to Noviny, only 56 out of 150 deputies attended the session.

On Tuesday, the opposition faced two unsuccessful attempts, as the coalition did not show up in parliament, just like on Wednesday.

The plenary session will try to address the no-confidence vote at the next scheduled meeting, set to take place on February 4.

Members of the "Freedom and Solidarity" party, the Progressive Party, and the Christian Democratic Movement have proposed dismissing the government led by Fico. They accused the cabinet of "changing Slovakia's foreign policy orientation to the east," as reported by Noviny.

Recall that on January 21, the opposition had already submitted a no-confidence vote proposal, dedicating an extraordinary session of the National Council to it. At that time, Fico demanded that the session be held behind closed doors and provided deputies with a report from the Slovak Information Service containing data about a supposed "destabilization" in the country.

The opposition criticized the lack of transparency in the session, withdrew from the debates, and retracted the initial proposal, ultimately failing to put it to a vote, as stated in the article.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that on January 24, protests erupted in over 20 cities in Slovakia under the slogan "Slovakia is Europe," directed against Prime Minister Robert Fico's government. Protesters chanted slogans like "Enough of Fico" and "We are Europe," expressing their dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister's policies and his pro-Russian rhetoric.
