Three Israeli hostages, held by Hamas for over a year, are now on Israeli territory.

This was reported by the Israel Defense Forces.

Hamas handed over the hostages to the Red Cross, where they were met by Israeli military personnel in the Gaza Strip. The released women have already arrived at a reception center in southern Israel, where their relatives awaited them. There, they will undergo an initial medical examination.

Today, the following individuals returned home:

  • Romi Gonen;
  • Emily Damari;
  • Doron Steinbrecher.

According to IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, as of the morning of January 19, Hamas had yet to provide Israel with a list of hostages scheduled for release that day. Consequently, Israeli forces struck Hamas military infrastructure and armed terrorists in vehicles. The ceasefire was postponed.

Later, the list was sent. "The first phase of the agreement is expected to last approximately 42 days. Today, the first three hostages returned. From now on, three to four hostages will be released weekly," Hagari stated at a briefing.
