On the night of December 25, Christmas, the occupiers launched 184 missiles and drones at Ukraine. Most of them were intercepted by air defense. This information was reported by the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Telegram channel of the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak.
Thus, on the night of December 25, Russian occupiers carried out a combined strike on facilities in Ukraine's fuel and energy sector using various types of missiles from air, ground, and sea platforms, as well as strike UAVs of the "Shahed" type and drones that mimic other types.
In total, the radio-technical troops of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detected and tracked 184 enemy aerial targets.
Specifically:
- 2 ballistic missiles KN-23 (launch area — Voronezh region);
- 10 surface-to-air guided missiles S-300/S-400 (launch area — Belgorod region);
- 12 cruise missiles "Kalibr" (from the Black Sea area);
- 50 cruise missiles X-101/X-55 from strategic bombers Tu-95MS (launch areas — Volgograd region, Caspian Sea);
- 4 guided air-to-surface missiles X-59/X-69 from tactical aviation aircraft (launch area — Belgorod region);
- 106 strike UAVs "Shahed"/various types of mimic drones (from the areas of Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Primorsko-Akhtarsk).
How the air defense performed
To repel the enemy's air assault, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved.
According to preliminary data, as of 12:00, the destruction of 113 aerial targets has been confirmed:
- 55 cruise missiles X-101, X-55SM, "Kalibr";
- 4 guided air-to-surface missiles X-59/X-69;
- 54 strike UAVs "Shahed"/various types of mimic drones, with another 52 failing to reach their targets (locationally lost).
