Russia has attacked Zaporizhzhia, targeting and destroying an energy facility.

Tens of thousands of subscribers have been left without electricity and heat.

In the evening of January 22 and the night of January 23, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Zaporizhzhia. Both energy and residential facilities in the city were targeted.

The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported this during a telethon.

The attack began at 21:50. The occupiers launched several "Shaheds," six of which struck an energy facility, while another hit an industrial zone. Later, Fedorov clarified that the energy facility was completely destroyed.

As a result of the infrastructure damage, 21,000 subscribers were left without electricity, including critical infrastructure facilities such as hospitals, heating plants, and administrative buildings. Additionally, 17,000 subscribers were deprived of heating services.

At 02:00 AM, four hours after the initial attack, the Russians launched another strike. This time, four missiles were fired at Zaporizhzhia, with their type currently being determined.

According to Fedorov, the missiles reached their targets just three and a half minutes after the air raid alert was declared. The strikes targeted the same energy facility where rescuers were working at the time.

Background. As a result of the missile attack, emergency service workers who were addressing the aftermath of the previous shelling were injured. Several residential buildings were also damaged, one of which was almost completely destroyed.

As of the morning, 24 injuries have been reported, including a two-month-old baby. One man has died.
