In 2024, the World Bank provided Ukraine with $31.8 billion, according to Hetmanstev.

The World Bank provided Ukraine with support amounting to $31.8 billion last year. 

This was reported by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, Danilo Hetmantsev.

According to Hetmantsev, the largest and most significant project is “Support for Public Expenditures to Ensure Sustainable Public Governance in Ukraine (PEACE),” under which financing of $26.3 billion was accumulated last year.

The funds were used to cover budget expenses for low-income families, internally displaced persons (IDPs), individuals with disabilities, families with children, and to pay salaries to employees in the healthcare, education, emergency services, and civil service sectors.

Among the largest projects that opened for financing in 2024 are:

• second loan "Foundations for Growth" (DPO 2-Grant FIF);
• strengthening the government's capacity to implement fiscal reform (SURGE);
• transformation of healthcare through reform and investment in efficiency (THRIVE);
• increasing accessibility and resilience of education in times of crisis in Ukraine (LEARN);
• sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally balanced entrepreneurship (RISE).

“The Bank supported the ‘eRecovery’ program – nearly 83,000 households received compensation for minor and medium repairs of partially damaged residential buildings thanks to the financing of the HOPE project, and nearly 100,000 farms, small farms, and farmers received about $230 million under the ARISE project, which funded affordable loans and grants for agricultural producers,” Hetmantsev stated.

Overall, according to the MP, as of February 1, 2025, the World Bank's portfolio in Ukraine consists of 21 projects (29 agreements), funded through loans totaling $14.40 billion and €1.05 billion, as well as 16 projects (17 agreements) funded through grant resources, totaling $17.77 million and €50 million.
