Trump has appointed a new official in charge of U.S. policies on AI and cryptocurrencies.

The newly elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, has nominated former PayPal COO David Sachs to oversee U.S. policy on AI and cryptocurrencies.

He announced this on his social media platform, Truth Social.

“In this crucial role, David will lead the administration's policies on artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies—two areas vital for America's future competitiveness. David will focus on making America the undeniable global leader in both fields,” Trump stated.

In particular, according to him, Sachs “will work on creating a legislative framework to ensure that the crypto industry has the clarity it needs to thrive in the U.S.”

Additionally, he will also chair the presidential advisory council on science and technology.

Trump had previously referred to cryptocurrency as a scam; however, during his campaign, he embraced digital assets and promised to make the U.S. “the cryptocurrency capital of the planet” and to accumulate a national reserve of bitcoins, writes Reuters.
