Trump appointed a former fast-food chain CEO as ambassador to the EU.

Since January 2022, the position of the U.S. Ambassador to the EU has been held by Mark Gitenstein.

US President Donald Trump has nominated former head of the American fast-food chain Carl's Jr, Andrew Puzder, as ambassador to the European Union.

Trump made this announcement on the Truth Social platform.

“I am pleased to announce that Andrew F. Puzder will be the next U.S. Ambassador to the European Union. Andy is a successful lawyer, businessman, economic analyst, and author,” he wrote.

He noted that since 2000, Puzder has served as the CEO of the parent company of the fast-food chains Carl's Jr and Hardee's.

“During his 17 years as CEO, Andy led the company out of serious financial difficulties, enabling it to survive, become financially secure, and grow. Andy will excel in representing our country’s interests in this important region,” Trump added.

Carl's Jr. is an American fast-food restaurant chain with over 3,600 locations in 38 countries worldwide. It is a subsidiary of CKE Restaurants.
