The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, welcomed the release of the first Israeli hostages held by Hamas militants. The head of state noted that Ukrainians, amid the ongoing war with Russia, understand the pain of separation and the hope for the return of their loved ones.

This was reported on Zelensky's Twitter (X) account.

According to the Ukrainian president, the release of hostages after many months of conflict between Israel and Hamas "is a deeply significant moment."

"Seeing families reunited, knowing the tears of relief and joy this brings, is something we can all empathize with. As Ukrainians, we know the pain of separation and the hope for loved ones to return home," the publication from Zelensky states.

The head of state emphasized that the path to "lasting peace and dignity for all people" is long and challenging; however, Ukraine hopes for "further progress towards security, stability, and normal life across the entire Middle East."

"Ukraine wishes for peace, justice, and reliable security guarantees for all nations, while also continuing to fight for them," Zelensky stressed.
