Убийство Ирины Фарион во Львове получило новую квалификацию.

Prosecutors from the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted an indictment to the court against an 18-year-old resident of Dnipro, accused of murdering public figure and Member of Parliament of Ukraine of the VII convocation Irina Farion.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, based on the collected evidence, the defendant's actions have been reclassified. He is charged with intentional murder of a person in connection with the performance of their public duty, motivated by national intolerance, as well as illegal possession of firearms (paragraphs 8 and 14 of part 2 of article 115, part 1 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It is reported that the investigation established that on July 19, 2024, in Lviv, the accused shot the victim from a distance of about two meters with a pistol and fled the scene. The woman died the same day from a penetrating gunshot wound to the head in the hospital.

The National Police reports that law enforcement has determined that the 18-year-old detainee became a member of a group in 2022 through one of the messengers, promoting a culture of violence and cruelty, as well as racial, national, and religious intolerance and discrimination. Additionally, in 2024, he joined another group associated with a Russian neo-Nazi organization.

“While being part of these groups, the suspect developed a personal animosity towards Irina Farion due to her active stance on protecting the Ukrainian language and culture. In the offender's opinion, her actions were fracturing national unity — thus, he formed the intent to murder the public figure,” the National Police statement reads.

Currently, the suspect is under preventive detention without the possibility of bail, a measure that has been extended until January 12, 2025.
