"If NATO exists and the war is over, then I have fulfilled my mission," said Zelensky.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a conversation with journalists at Stansted Airport following his visit to the United Kingdom, stated that Ukraine's membership in NATO and the conclusion of the war would signify that he has fulfilled his mission and could step down from his position.

“If I were to be replaced, … it wouldn’t be easy right now. It’s not enough just to hold elections; I also need to be prevented from participating (in them). That’s a bit more complicated. It would mean that negotiations would have to take place with me. And I have stated that I will exchange (my position) for (Ukraine's membership in) NATO. Therefore, I would have accomplished my task. If NATO exists, and the war is over, then I have fulfilled my mission,” emphasized Zelensky. He also commented on the pressure from international partners who, according to him, may attempt to influence Ukraine's decisions. He criticized such approaches, noting that they contradict democratic principles.

Let us remind you that the Verkhovna Rada voted for a statement that elections should take place after the war ends, and that organizing them at this time is impossible.
