The Defense Ministry has commenced the production of coded FPV drones.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has commenced the production of coded FPV drones based on a state-owned enterprise. This project, initiated in December 2024, is being implemented under a tripartite agreement with a private developer that provided a license for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was reported by the agency.

As part of a pilot project, under the overall coordination of the Main Department of Defense Innovations of the Ministry of Defense, the state has gained the capability to create coded FPV drones for the needs of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. After refining the production technology and scaling it up, the state enterprise will be able to participate in tenders from the Defense Procurement Agency and other potential clients.

First Deputy Minister of Defense Ivan Havryliuk noted that through the integration of the state into production chains, a clear understanding of the cost of drone production has been achieved, which will enhance product quality through constant market competition.

The Ministry of Defense has also developed a roadmap for organizing similar productions with other drone developers. The head of the Main Department of Defense Innovations, Yuriy Taraniuk, stated that they are ready to expand cooperation with private companies by providing a package of template documents and a step-by-step guide for launching similar productions at other state enterprises.
