The Senate has confirmed Chris Wright as the U.S. Secretary of Energy. The confirmation passed with 59 votes in favor and 38 against. This was reported by Politico.
Wright pledged to continue the energy strategy focused on developing all possible energy sources.
“The only way to lower the price of a critically important commodity is to increase supply,” Wright told lawmakers during his confirmation hearings last month.
“I am 100% committed to enhancing our power grid and energy production, and to removing the barriers that stand in the way,” he stated.
During the hearings, Wright outlined three priorities for his role as Secretary of Energy if confirmed: unleashing American energy at home and abroad to "restore energy dominance," pursuing innovations and technological breakthroughs, and reducing bureaucracy for energy and infrastructure projects.
Bloomberg reported that Wright is the CEO of Liberty Energy Inc., a company providing hydraulic fracturing services for oil and natural gas in Colorado, and has no prior experience in Washington.
Following his confirmation, Wright promised to divest from shares and stocks and resign from his positions at Liberty Energy, Oklo, and EMX Royalty.
