In Kryvyi Rih, one of the higher educational institutions has allowed students to attend classes with their pets. Additionally, the university has taken in ten stray dogs, which are cared for by the institution's administration, writes "Suspilne".
“You can come with your dog; sometimes it’s even convenient when you’re walking it and can stop by to gather information or pick up documents. Or during an air raid, Basya gets very scared of the explosions, so it’s helpful to go to a shelter with her,” said second-year student Sergey, who arrived at the university with his dog Basya.
According to the rector Andrii Shaikan, the initiative to make the university pet-friendly emerged at the beginning of the full-scale invasion: at that time, people began to come to the shelter with their pets.
“One of our girls suggested: it would be great to have open spaces like in Europe. We supported the idea and said: we will be pet-friendly. Since then, this rule applies to the entire university,” the rector explained.
He also added: although education is currently remote, lectures and various educational events often take place in the shelter. Animals are welcome everywhere and at all times.
“Sometimes someone comes with their pet. It’s not a mass occurrence every day, but there are no restrictions or problems,” he stated.
On the university grounds, the director mentioned, there are ten dogs living.
