On Wednesday evening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on platform X that he had a phone conversation with newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I had a wonderful phone conversation with President Trump and congratulated him on his historic and convincing victory – this outcome was made possible by his impressive election campaign. I acknowledged his family and team for their excellent work,” Zelensky wrote.

“We agreed to maintain a close dialogue and develop our cooperation. Strong and unwavering U.S. leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace,” emphasized the President of Ukraine.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on platform X that Zelensky and Trump are engaged in a long-term, constructive, and results-oriented dialogue.

“We will work together to strengthen the Ukrainian-American strategic partnership and move towards a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace. We rely on America’s strong leadership,” Sybiha noted.

Previously, Zelensky congratulated Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential elections. “I remember our wonderful meeting with President Trump in September, where we discussed in detail the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the U.S., the Victory Plan, and ways to end Russian aggression against Ukraine,” the President of Ukraine wrote on platform X.

“We look forward to the dawn of an era of strong United States under the decisive leadership of President Trump. We count on unwavering bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States,” he stated.

Zelensky noted that he appreciates Trump’s commitment to the approach of “peace through strength” in global affairs. According to him, this is precisely the principle that can practically bring about a just peace in Ukraine.
