The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has signed a decree allocating $1 million for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
The document has been published on the official website of the President of Azerbaijan.
“Allocate to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the reserve fund of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan the amount of 1.0 (one) million US dollars equivalent in manats, provided in the state budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2025, for the purchase and shipment of electrical equipment manufactured in the Republic of Azerbaijan, for the purpose of providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine,” the decree states.
Aliyev has also instructed the Ministry of Finance to ensure this funding.
It is noted that the government of Azerbaijan has repeatedly sent humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people. In December 2022, Baku delivered transformers and generators to Kyiv. In 2023, it provided electrical equipment for the energy system damaged by Russian shelling. Azerbaijan also offered humanitarian assistance to address the consequences of the Russian bombing of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. At the same time, Baku does not supply weapons to Ukraine.
