Polish President Andrzej Duda has expressed his stance regarding the conflict that has arisen between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In particular, he believes that only the United States can halt the war and that Zelensky should not have publicly criticized the American president.
“Just a few minutes ago, President Zelensky called me. We had an open conversation following the recent meetings with General Kellogg and other events. I conveyed to him that we firmly believe there is no other way to stop the bloodshed and achieve lasting peace in Ukraine than with the support of the United States,” – wrote Duda on social media platform X.
He noted that by attacking Zelensky and calling him a “dictator,” Trump is actually concerned about global stability and peace.
“For this reason, I suggested to President Zelensky to remain committed to a calm and constructive cooperation with Donald Trump. I believe that goodwill and honesty are the foundation of the U.S. negotiation strategy. I have no doubt that President Trump is guided by a profound sense of responsibility for global stability and peace,” stated the Polish president in his post.
Background. The day before, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed a proposal to finance aid to Ukraine using frozen Russian assets.
Moreover, he is calling for new financial mechanisms to increase spending on European defense.
As reported, many European leaders reacted to Trump's attack on Zelensky. They agree that holding elections in a country defending itself from Russian aggression is impossible and contradicts the Constitution.
