Россия с помощью обмана вербует йеменцев для участия в войне против Украины – DW.

Young Yemenis are lured to Russia with false promises of jobs, only to be forced to fight in Ukraine.

Source. This was reported by DW citing their relatives and human rights activists.

One resident of Yemen shared that his friend, who found himself on the front lines, was cut off from all means of communication, just like other Yemenis. According to him, he was part of a group of 24 individuals, all of whom were recruited in the cities of Sana'a and Taiz and their surroundings.

The recruitment is organized by an international network linked to the Houthis. This is confirmed by both residents of Yemen and human rights activists from the Yemen-based SAM organization in Geneva.

According to their data, young people are promised salaries of up to $10,000 and jobs in mines, but upon arriving in Russia, they are sent to the front lines. The contracts they sign are often not translated into Arabic, making it difficult for the Yemenis to understand them.

SAM estimates that the number of those recruited is between 500 and 700 individuals.

“Upon arrival, they face brutal treatment. They are forced to fight in harsh and inhumane conditions, and they are practically deprived of food and medical care,” the report from human rights activists states.

As reported by the Financial Times, the contracts signed by the Yemenis mention a company founded by prominent Houthi politician Abdulwali Abdo Hassan al-Jabri. It is registered in Oman as a tour operator and a retail supplier of medical equipment and drugs.

In Nizhny Novgorod, a company named “Al-Jaberi” is registered in his name, with passenger transportation listed as its main activity.

According to the SAM report, a certain Dmitriy, whose identity has not been established, is involved in the recruitment process. He works at the Russian consulate in Oman and is reportedly a representative of the Russian side in al-Jabri's office.

Background. Recall that in September, men from Ghana, who were recruited by Russia, requested to be returned home, as reported by local TV. They sought help from the occupied territory of Ukraine, claiming they were lured here under false pretenses.
