UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that Britain and France will collaborate with Kyiv on a peace plan. This plan will be presented to the United States.
According to reports from The Guardian.
"After discussions with Zelensky, Trump, and Macron, an agreement was reached that Britain, along with France and 'possibly one or two other' countries, will work with Kyiv to end the war," The Guardian states.
In Starmer's view, Donald Trump desires a lasting peace in Ukraine, despite his actions.
By "lasting peace," the British Prime Minister envisions a "defensive mechanism" from the US and "security guarantees" provided by European nations. He also sees an armed Ukraine as a condition for countering Russian aggression. The security guarantee from the Americans is a topic of "intense" discussion, Starmer mentioned.
"It is crucial that we maintain our primary focus – a strong peace in Ukraine; no one wants more bloodshed," he concluded.
Background. Previously, Mind reported that Starmer is gathering European leaders in London after his meeting with Trump, and Zelensky will also attend. The leader of Turkey is also expected among representatives from other countries.
