Zelensky has arrived in Budapest for the European Political Community summit.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived at the European Political Community summit in Budapest.

During the summit on November 7 and 8, European leaders will discuss security challenges in Europe in light of the Russian war against Ukraine. The victory of Donald Trump in the U.S. elections and how the arrival of the new president will affect U.S.-European Union relations will also be on the agenda.

As previously mentioned, Ukraine will be one of the key topics at the two high-level meetings in Budapest on November 7 and 8 – following the European Political Community summit, an informal summit will also take place.

Currently, heads of state and government from 47 European countries have been invited to Budapest.

It was noted that in Budapest, the President of Ukraine will meet with leaders of European countries and sign several agreements.

Before the summit, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte expressed his desire to discuss in detail with European leaders and future U.S. President Donald Trump the response to the deepening cooperation between Russia and North Korea, Iran, and China.

He also stated that he agrees with Trump's long-standing criticism of European allies regarding insufficient investments in defense, and expressed confidence that NATO members will soon spend more than 2% of their GDP on defense.

At the end of October, President of the European Council Charles Michel and Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, which holds the EU presidency, invited leaders of the countries participating in the European Political Community to a meeting in Budapest on November 7.

In a video address the day before, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he would attend the European Political Community summit in Budapest at the invitation of Viktor Orban. This marks Volodymyr Zelensky's first visit to Hungary since the start of the full-scale invasion.
