Pyongyang has reportedly launched an intercontinental ballistic missile on a high-altitude trajectory, according to South Korean military sources.
"The North Korean ballistic missile is believed to be intercontinental, launched on a high-angle trajectory," the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea (JCS) stated, as reported by the Yonhap news agency.
The launch occurred at approximately 7:10 AM (0:10 in Kyiv) from the northern area of Pyongyang.
The military has declared that they "maintain full readiness" and are sharing information about the North Korean launch with their colleagues in Japan and the United States.
Meanwhile, Japan's Ministry of Defense has indicated the likely high-altitude trajectory of the North Korean missile. The agency specified that, according to their data, the projected landing site is outside Japan's Exclusive Economic Zone.
The Japan Coast Guard has advised vessels at sea to pay attention to incoming information.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea reported on Thursday morning about the ballistic missile launch conducted by North Korea towards the Sea of Japan.
The last time North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles was on September 18. The most recent intercontinental ballistic missile launch took place on December 18 of last year.
