In Dnipro, the memory of the Holocaust victims was honored, reports "Vidomo" correspondent.

The event took place at the Museum "Memory of the Jewish People and the Holocaust in Ukraine" in Menorah, where visitors were able to pay tribute to the 6 million victims, including 1.5 million who were residents of occupied Ukrainian territories.

It was on January 27, 1945, that the troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front liberated the prisoners of the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, near the Polish town of Oswiecim.

"We had the opportunity to hold an event dedicated to the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, observed on January 27. There was a memorial ceremony involving invited guests, including representatives of the Jewish community, officials from our city and regional authorities, and, of course, youth and students who care about this topic. This ceremony demonstrated that we must honor such dates and that people still care about this issue," shared Irina Radchenko, director of the Museum "Memory of the Jewish People and the Holocaust in Ukraine."

"Today, in my opinion, what matters most depends on us. In the present and future, we must live in a way that they would not be ashamed of us," noted Zelig Brez, director of the Jewish community in Dnipro.

"For us Dnipro residents, it is very important when each community feels that it is not alone, that Ukrainians honor the memory of Jews. It is indeed very significant for us that we remember, as one family, what happened to each one," said Oleg Rostovtsev, advisor to the mayor.
