Wife receives a million in "combat" funds: former brigade commander of the Territorial Defense from Dnipropetrovsk is under suspicion (PHOTO).

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported suspicions against a former commander of one of the territorial defense brigades and three of his subordinates, who assisted in obtaining over 922 thousand hryvnias in additional payments for the commander's wife, as reported by "Vідомо" citing the SBI press service.

At the end of July 2023, the commander arranged for his wife to be employed in the brigade he led as a shooter to secure her increased payments. To formally comply with the law, the couple even divorced, although they remained related.

Subsequently, the commander involved two subordinates in the scheme – commanders of units under his command. They created false documents regarding the alleged participation of the woman in combat operations at the frontline. As a result, between July 2023 and April 2024, she unlawfully received over 922 thousand hryvnias in additional payments.

During this entire time, she served alongside her husband and was engaged in horse breeding on a special farm. The woman even managed to spend two weeks in Poland after leaving the military unit without permission.

According to media reports, the individual in question is Dmitry Gerasimenko, who led the 108th Separate Brigade of Territorial Defense, stationed in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The former brigade commander, his wife, and two of his subordinates have been informed of their suspicion of misappropriating someone else's property through abuse of power by a group of individuals in especially large amounts (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Additionally, the ex-commander and another subordinate are suspected of official forgery (Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), while the woman is suspected of desertion from military service (Part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The penalties for these offenses include imprisonment for up to twelve years with confiscation of property.

Currently, the issue of choosing measures for the suspects is being resolved.
