The social network TikTok is resuming its operations in the United States following a statement from newly elected President Donald Trump. 

This was announced in an official statement from the company on X.

“With the agreement of our service providers, TikTok is in the process of resuming operations. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assuring our service providers that they will not be penalized for delivering TikTok to over 170 million Americans and allowing more than 7 million small businesses to thrive,” said TikTok. They added that “this is a strong stance on the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship.”

Platform representatives indicated that they will collaborate with Trump on a long-term solution that will keep TikTok in the U.S.

Recently, Trump stated that after his inauguration on January 20, he would postpone the ban on TikTok. The newly elected president suggested that if the platform is partially owned by the U.S., it will be able to continue operating in the States.
